Michael D. Shock, 69, of Libby, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. He moved with his family to the Kalispell area when he was a young child. He attended Kalispell schools, and was involved in Search and Rescue.

The Libby and Troy high school track and field teams faced fierce competition Saturday at the Archie Roe in Kalispell, but came away in the top three in multiple events with several wins for Libby as well.

Jason and Emily Wells welcomed a baby girl on May 7, 2019, at 3:10 pm. Tallica Wells weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 18.5 inches long. She was delivered by Dr. Kelli Jarrett.
Dedicated volunteer track coach honored
This was Marge Kroeger’s last year of volunteering for 4th and 5th grade track and field Mini Meet for Libby Public Schools, and so she was honored at the meet on May 2.
Yaak students recognized for artwork
Yaak School students Ani Vick, 5th grade, and Jasmine Bilbrey, 3rd grade, both took second place for northwest Montana with entries in the 2019 Keep Montana Green Poster Contest. Their submitted art was not returned, but they each chose a favorite artwork they have done to pose with. The theme Vick painted a for the contest was to increase awareness wildfires and their causes. Vick painted a picture looking up into a forest from the ground, with fire consuming the trees. Bilbery painted a picture of people evacuating a house threatened by fire, as well as campers running from their tent in the midst of a fire. Yaak Wings benefit raises over $36,000
The annual Wings benefit at the Yaak River Tavern and Mercantile raised over $36,000 this year, doing even better than last year, when they raised around $33,000.
