Troy chooses two trustees for school board

Troy elected two new members for the Troy Public Schools Board of Trustees on Tuesday.

Ben Valentine, a parent of two current Troy student, had the most votes with 263. He was followed by Silvia Maffit, a former teacher and prior trustee, with 234 votes.

Of the other three candidates, Cecil McDougal had 176 votes, Kristina Boyd had 112 and Jamie Derry had 66.

The positions Maffit and Valentine will fill are being vacated by current trustees Craig Pierce and Hy Boltz.

The next board meeting is Monday at 6 p.m. in the Troy High School library.
