Winfrey, Jr., chosen Monday to serve as mayor for the next two years, was caught by The Western News photographer as he worked in the greenhouse at Libby Floral. a resident of Libby since 1939, Winfrey graduated from Libby High School in 1944. He served in the Army for two years and was in Europe with the 99th Infantry Division. Returning to Libby after World War II, he worked at the local Ford garage and operated a service station until he started in the floral business in 1956. My sister and I are currently serving. Together as a family we have been to war in Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Our story is not unique from others in Libby.
