Contest will determine a name for new hospital

| March 27, 2013 10:45 AM

Letter to the Editor,

St. John’s Lutheran Hospital will be getting much more than just a new look in the near future.  They will be getting a new logo and a new name as well.

During a meeting Tuesday, March 5, the SJLH Board of Trustees made the decision to change the St. John’s Lutheran Hospital name, and they want your help to do it.

“This new hospital is a big deal for our community,” said Board of Trustee President, Steve Sorensen, O.D.  “It’s a fresh start and the perfect time to make these kinds of big changes. The board understands the importance of the role that leaders from St. John’s Lutheran Church played in the founding of our hospital, and that is why we have elected to leave the current facility under the St. John’s name.”

Sorensen said the hospital has grown.

“While we will always remember the past, changing the name of the hospital as we move into our new state-of-the-art facility is about celebrating our future. St. John’s is no longer just a hospital. We offer a variety of services beyond what the average hospital does; we are a healthcare organization,” Sorensen said.

The contest to name your new community healthcare facility will begin and be open to the public on April 1. Members of the community will have the opportunity to submit their suggestions for a new name. This may be done via the SJLH website — www.slh.com —  on the SJLH Foundation Facebook page, or by mailing your suggestions to St. John’s Lutheran Hospital, Attn: Kate Stephens, 350 Louisiana Ave., Libby, Mont., 59923.

All suggestions must be submitted to the SJLH Marketing Department by April 30.  Each submission needs to include the participant’s name, address, phone number, and e-mail address to be considered a valid entry. Any community member who enters a name which has already been submitted will be notified via e-mail, and asked to try again. Entries will be date/time stamped and will be accepted on the order that they are received.  The winner of the “Name Your New Healthcare Facility” contest will receive lifetime recognition, and a gift of $250 in Libby Bucks.

“Now is your chance to make your voice heard,” said Bruce Whitfield, SJLH CEO.  “We want to emphasize to our community that this is your healthcare facility. We hope that our community takes ownership and feels proud, that they realize that they are a big part of St. John’s and its culture, and will be so well into the future.  We believe that healthcare is a local issue and we want to give the local community the opportunity to be a part of this new facility in a big way.”
