Troy, Libby schools to host inspirational speakers
John Underwood, Director of the Human Performance Project, and John Larson, a former NAVY Seal, will attempt to connect kids and community to inspire leadership, teamwork, personal responsibility and resilience.

DuWayne Herbert “Ollie” Hamann, 80, of Libby passed away at the Libby Care Center on Friday, June 16, 2017 of natural causes. He was born Sept. 16, 1936 in Libby to Herbert and Esther (Eggert) Hamann. DuWayne was a Libby boy, being born and raised in the area. He attended the Libby Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1954. It was while in high school that he acquired the nickname “Ollie” which stuck with him his whole life.

'Sleeping Beauty' musical coming Feb. 4-5 to Memorial Center
Dancing, singing and wielding props – Libby Middle School students have been rehearsing since December to present the musical production of “Sleeping Beauty” next week at the Memorial Center.

Jack Lee Keene, 61
Jack Lee Keene, age 61, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; died suddenly of natural causes. He was born July 29, 1946 in Philippi, W. Va. to Adrian B. Keene and Mary Schelin. Jack attended Butte schools and had extended schooling in the Navy from November 1963-July 1967. He lived in Butte most of his life before moving to Troy and finally to Coeur d'Alene. An in-depth career as a Boilermaker for the Anaconda Company and Self contractor, he belonged to the Boilermakers union.

Randall gets nod for the Naval Academy
Shock, disbelief and excitement were the reactions from the Randall family of Troy when they received news their son, Troy High School senior, Justin Randall, was nominated for an appointment to the Naval Academy for 2012.

Calvin Ray Profitt
Calvin Ray Profitt, 74, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby. He was born on Jan. 24, 1943 in Orofino, Idaho to John and Grace Profitt. He was the second child of 11 brothers and sisters, so there was lots of activity in his family. He started school in Orofino and then attended different schools as his father had to move the family for work.

Lady Trojans just short in play-in game;tourney at Libby
Libby High School will host the District 7B basketball tournament on Saturday. Four games will be played, beginning with the girls’ consolation game at 1 p.m. The boys’ consolation game will tip at 3 p.m. The girls’ championship match will be held at 5 p.m., and the boys’ title game will tip at 7 p.m.

Jerry “Cub” Dale Hersman, 76, passed away peacefully in his home on June 4, 2018. He was born on April 25, 1942, in Kalispell to Gerald and Delores Hersman (White). He graduated as student body president from Park County High School in Livingston, and was active in several chorale groups, drama and science clubs.
