Cabinet FMU fisher season closing
By order of the Montana Fish & Wildlife Commission, the season for taking fisher in portions of Trapping District’s 1 and 2 of northwestern Montana will close at midnight on the evening of Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.

The law increases the state Department of Public Health and Human Services’ oversight of such programs by requiring weekly, unmonitored video calls between program attendees and their parents, more inspections, and a 24-hour child abuse hotline for program residents.

This past summer, folks from across Montana and around the country fished for wild trout while the cool, clean waters of the Smith River flowed underneath them. They sat around campfires, telling stories of good times gone by, with friends and family while their kids played nearby, making wishes on stars. They sat under the shade of massive limestone cliffs, cooling off after a hike to the canyon rim, where they passed Native American cultural sites as they climbed to some of the most picturesque views in Montana.
Governor must act to spare state from a ruinous shortfall
Economists are now predicting that the blow to Montana’s economy this year will be worse than anything we’ve experienced since World War II. Nearly 100,000 Montanans have filed unemployment claims since March 1, with Montana suffering significantly more job loss per capita than any state in the Northern Rockies.

A CWD sampling station in Libby will operate Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, 10 a.m. to 1.5 hours past sunset at the Montana Department of Transportation shop on U.S. Highway 2 south of town. Hunters are not required to stop at the Libby CWD sampling station.

Western Montana Mental Health returning
Representatives from Western Montana Mental Health Center told the Lincoln County Commissioners on May 8 that they want to begin bringing services back to Lincoln County.
