Troy Public Schools teacher Christina Schertel was recognized in Missoula on March 1 as Special Education Teacher of the Year by the Montana Council for Exceptional Children. Troy Superintendent Jacob Francom said that Schertel is always trying to find a way to help each student succeed, and that it is an honor to have her as a teacher and an administrator. Schertel said she was humbled, because special education is a team effort. “One of the reasons Troy is so unique is because the community places a big emphasis on relationships,” she said. “We all work hard to take care of one another.” (Courtesy photo)
