Logger sophomore Farmer shines at Libby Invitational

The 2025 Montana cross country season is off and running Friday after the Cabinet View Golf Club hosted the Libby Invitational.

Some of the best cross country runners in Montana and Idaho competed on a cool, sunny morning.

Libby sophomore Capri Farmer led the way for the Loggers as she clocked a 19:28.56 to take fourth place. Freshman teammate Alli Clemons was next for Libby as she ran a 21:50.67 to place 28th.

Defending Montana Class A state champion Morgan Delaney didn’t run for Polson, but her younger sister, freshman Quinn Delaney, did. She was fifth, 5.4 seconds behind Farmer.

From the Flathead Valley, Glacier junior Lauren Bissen won the race in dominating fashion in 18:39.78. Bissen was third a year ago in the Class AA championship. Bissen’s teammate, freshman Ada Thiel, was second in 19:01.98.

Post Falls, Idaho senior Talia Bonville was third in 19:05.21.

In the team race, Glacier High was an easy winner with 62 points while Post Falls was second with 98. Columbia Falls was fifth, Polson was eighth and Libby was ninth out of 13 schools.

Also running for the Loggers girls squad was junior Hailey Misner (49th), freshman Rylee Thompson (74th), sophomore Lillian Bailey (76th) and freshman Jayce Thompson (88th.)

Troy had three runners compete. The Lady Trojans were led by senior Jaylee Meyers (50th). She was joined by freshman Daisy Williams (61st) and senior Jenika Meyer (86th).

In the boys race, Libby junior Cody Watson was the top runner for the Loggers. He ran a 16:53.77, finishing 16th.

Glacier senior Owen Thiel won the race in 15:34.80. Polson senior David DiGiallonardo was second in 15:55.13. Timberlake juniors Caleb Royce and Jonathan Barnhart were third and fifth, respectively. Lakeland junior Frank McCarthy was fourth.

Sandpoint won the team race with 62 points. Flathead was second, Glacier third, Timberlake fourth and Columbia Falls fifth. Libby was 11th.

For the Loggers, junior Colter Anderson was 58th, Samuel Erickson was 67th, senior Jake Rusdal was 74th, freshman Cody Katzer was 85th and sophomore Ignacio Guerra was 88th.

The Troy Trojans had three runners. They were led by sophomore Kai Brownell, who was 53rd. Senior Dmitri Walenter was 81st and junior Michael Gillespie was 91st.

Libby and Troy return to action Friday, Sept. 5, at Rebecca Farms in Kalispell.
