Louis Sidney Jam
Louis Sidney Jam was born in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 19, 1944, to Wanda (Schell) Jam and Ralph Joseph Jam.
Louis spent his early childhood in Deale, Maryland, and attended elementary school at Tracey’s Landing, Maryland. Louis attended St. Mathew’s Catholic school in Kalispell, Montana, while he and his siblings lived with grandparents, Joseph and Delia Jam for one year, after which he lived in Libby, Montana.
Louis graduated from Libby Senior High School in 1964, after which he worked at the local mill, J. Neils Lumber Company and the WR Grace zonolite mine.
He then traveled the highways and bi-ways from Florida to California, Oregon and Washington, working at what Louis called being a “fruit tramp.” Any work that had to do with fruit orchards and farms, Louis did.
He enjoyed working outdoors long days, as well as all the people he met along the way. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as having a passion for history.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings – Philip, Leo, Paul and Johanna, and his nephew, Justin French.
Louis is survived by his sisters, Bella Mally, Spokane Washington, J. Marie Jam and brother-in-law Jeff Dahlin, Helena, Montana; nephews Blaine Fifield, Warren Fifield, Philip Mally; niece in law Carilla French; nieces Rebekah Martin, Samantha French, Susanne Noga;great nephew Gabriel Martin; great niece Sophia Noga and her daughter Amethyst.
Louis appreciated medical support for prostate cancer from Dr. J. Ness/staff at Logan Medical in Kalispell, Robert O’Rourke, PA of NCHC/ staff and Granite Pharmacy/staff in Libby, and Headwaters Hospice/staff in Helena. He supported and valued Wings Cancer Foundation of Lincoln County, Libby, MT. A celebration of life will be held later in the summer in Libby, Montana.
