Libby, Troy eye medals at state track and field
A strong contingent of Libby and Troy athletes delivered standout performances at their respective Western Divisional Track and Field Championships, with several placing in the top six and punching their tickets to the upcoming state meet.
In Polson, freshman Capri Farmer was a top performer for the Loggers, winning the 3,200 meters in 11:36.97 and placing second in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:13.90.
Sophomore Cody Watson continued his impressive season by placing sixth in the 1,600 meters with a personal-record time of 4:35.89. He returned in the 3,200 meters, earning a fifth-place finish in another personal best of 10:07.40, showcasing his endurance and consistency in a competitive field.
In the field events, Tristan Andersen delivered one of Libby’s highest placements, taking second in the boys javelin with a throw of 160 feet, 11 inches. Andersen also competed in the high jump, where he tied for fifth after clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.
Sophomore Sidnie Thompson threw a personal best 104 feet, 6 inches in the javelin to place fifth overall.
In Missoula, Troy Lady Trojan junior Jaylee Meyers placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:38.57 and followed it up with a sixth-place finish in the 3,200 meters, recording a time of 13:42.06. Nolan Morris led the Trojan boys’ team with a strong showing in the 800-meter run, where he clocked a 2:06.25 to take fourth place overall.
