Libby softball wraps up season with tough tournament loss
The Libby Lady Loggers closed out their 2025 softball season with a 12-10 record, finishing the year with a commanding shutout victory over Whitefish before falling to Hamilton in a tightly contested Western A Divisional game.
In their regular season finale on Monday, May 12, Libby exploded for a 20-0 win over Whitefish, pounding out 22 hits. The Lady Loggers jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning, added four more in the third, and sealed the game with a 10-run fifth.
It was a total team effort at the plate, with nearly every batter contributing. Jayva Boehmier led the offensive barrage with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and triple. Danika Allen also went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs.
Madison Vincent added a double and triple of her own in a 2-for-3 outing, while Carmen Kohler, Leah Rusdal, and Teighler Parker were each perfect at the plate. In total, 14 different Libby players recorded hits.
In the circle, Weslee MacDonald started and delivered four solid innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six. Kohler came in to close, striking out the side in the fifth to complete the shutout.
The strong performance gave Libby momentum heading into Saturday’s divisional opener against Hamilton, but the Lady Loggers couldn’t carry over their offensive fireworks in the postseason.
Hamilton edged Libby 3-1, limiting the Lady Loggers to just three hits. Dakota Allen led Libby with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, and MacDonald drove in the team’s lone run in the second inning to briefly tie the game at 1-1. However, Hamilton responded in the bottom half and never relinquished the lead, tacking on another run in the fifth to seal the win.
Pitcher Maddi Willis gave Libby a strong outing, throwing six innings while allowing eight hits and three runs — only two of them earned — with four strikeouts.
