Libby Loggers celebrate Senior Night with big wins
The Libby Loggers High School softball team celebrated Senior Night Tuesday with a pair of decisive wins over Browning.
Libby honored Peyton Waggoner, Madison Vincent and Rachel Kosters between varsity games of a doubleheader.
Waggoner and Leah Rusdal each hit home runs for the Loggers in the first game in a 25-1 win in four innings. Libby won the second game as it improved to 7-9.
According to the Daily Inter Lake, at the Butte Tournament last weekend, the Loggers won all four games to run its win streak to six games and improve to 11-9.
Libby wrapped up the regular season Monday at Whitefish.
FRIDAY
Libby 13, Miles City 2
Peyton Waggoner doubled, homered and drove in three runs for the Loggers, who led 9-0 in the fifth inning of a game that ended in the sixth.
Rachel Kosters had a double, a triple and three runs batted in as well. Kosters and Bently Houston each scored twice; Madison Vincent had three hits with two runs scored and two RBIs. Weslee MacDonald added a double and threw two innings of relief after Carmen Kohler started and struck out nine of the 10 batters she faced.
Libby 9, Glendive 3
The Loggers (8-9) rolled to another 9-0 lead in this one, getting three hits and three runs scored from Kosters and two hits and two RBIs from Waggoner. The game ended after five innings.
Vincent had two hits and scored twice; MacDonald had two hits and drove in a run. Hadleigh Wood, Teighler Parker and Jayva Boehmier also had RBIs.
Maddi Willis was in the circle for 3 2-3 innings, allowing four hits and no runs. She struck out one.
SATURDAY
Rossi Baney had a solo home run and Rachel Kosters two doubles for the Loggers. Peyton Waggoner also hit a double and Bently Houston tripled and scored.
Weslee MacDonald and Carmen Kohler combined for a five-inning three-hitter, each striking out five Copperheads. Kohler gave up no hits in two innings of work.
Libby 8, Butte Central 6
Madison Vincent went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored, and Maddi Willis added a solo home run for the Loggers.
Jayva Boehmier also had a double among three hits, and Baney drove in two more runs, including an RBI single that put the Loggers (11-9) up for good in the fourth inning, 7-6.
Libby totaled 14 hits, with Kosters getting three and Houston two. Houston drove in three runs and Kosters two.
