Patricia Robertson King
Patricia Robertson King died suddenly on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
She was born Feb. 25, 1946, to Chester and Lillian Robertson in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. A year and a half later her sister Nancy was born. At the age of 5, her family moved to Libby, where her father worked at J. Neils Lumber Company until his retirement.
When she was young, she spent many hours with her father hunting and fishing around their Pipe Creek cabin, while her mother cared for her sister with scarlet fever. During high school, Pat worked as a waitress at the Suprise Cafe.
After graduating, she joined the U.S. Army. She was stationed at Fort Sam Houston for basic training and later was moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina for advanced training for dental hygiene. This is where she met her future husband. After coming back from Vietnam, Larry was scheduled for a dental cleaning and after his appointment the receptionist told Pat “This is the man you’re going to marry.”
Twenty-three days later, on April 13, 1968, that’s exactly what happened.
Larry, an auto body and fender repairman, and Pat lived in Pacific Jct. Iowa for two years before moving back to Libby in 1970. Larry worked hard building their lifelong home. Pat was a member of the American Legion Post 97 and was an election judge for 40 years.
She enjoyed volunteering at The Heritage Museum, loved gardening and reading all kinds of books, especially mysteries and putting together jigsaw puzzles with Larry. Pat will be greatly missed by her family, her husband Larry of 57 years, three daughters, Amanda (Dave), Eve (Guy) and Cheryl.
Her grandchildren, Gunnar and Hailley Moe, Kemper and Quillan King, and her furry boy Sarge, a Newfoundland, whom she spent many hours taking on walks that they both enjoyed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
