While the end result favored the Polson Pirates, the Troy Trojans baseball team honored its seniors Saturday and even enjoyed a lead in the game at Roosevelt Park.

Cooper Carsley, Preston Norder, Lucas Peterson, Trapper Savage, Kempton Sloan and Cody Todd were recognized along with their family members.

Todd, who is still recovering from a ruptured spleen and resulting surgery after a fall during basketball season, threw out the first pitch.

Polson (9-4) scored once in the top of the first inning before head coach Mike Roy’s squad answered in the bottom of the first when son Henry Roy Jr. singled in two runs for a 2-1 lead.

Eventually, the Pirates went on to a 17-4 victory.

According to reporting in the Daily Inter Lake, Brayson DuMont earned the win for Polson (9-4), going 3 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on just two hits, striking out three. He added three hits at the plate with an RBI and a run scored out of the leadoff spot. Paxson DuMont went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

The Pirates played a clean game defensively, not allowing an error while the Trojans committed five.

Troy wraps up the regular season Saturday at Columbia Falls and May 12 at Plains/Hot Springs.
