Libby Logger softball unveils new field with big win
The Libby Loggers softball team unveiled their brand new field in style with a 15-0 win in three innings over Whitefish Thursday, May 1.
It was also Libby’s first Northwest A win of the season.
“It’s awesome and the girls are really stoked,” Loggers head coach Kellen MacDonald said. “We felt it was important to get on the field in 2025 and we are so appreciative of the community support.”
The Loggers will host two more games on their new field, Tuesday against Browning. Senior Night festivities will also be held.
In Thursday’s win, Dakota Allen hit a two-run double in the first inning, Bently Houston hit a two-run triple in the second.
Madison Vincent and Weslee MacDonald each had two hits and scored twice to spark Libby (5-8 overall, 1-5 in league), which scored eight runs in the first inning. Tessa Purdy drove in three runs for the Loggers, including a two-run single that ended the game under the mercy rule.
Carmen Kohler and MacDonald combined to no-hit the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-6). Kohler threw the first two innings, allowing one walk and fanning five.
SATURDAY
Polson 8, Libby 2
Samantha Rensvold pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, two runs, none of them earned and struck out four as the Polson Lady Pirates (13-3-1) beat the Libby Loggers 8-2.
According to Daily Inter Lake reporting, Olivia Jore hit a home run over the left field wall that capped off a six-run fourth inning that gave the Lady Pirates their first lead since the first inning, 6-1. Liz Cunningham had two hits, and a run scored, Jaja Nichols drove in two out of the nine spot.
Carmen Kohler started for Libby and she held the Lady Pirates to three hits and one earned run before giving up five hits, including Jore’s homer in fourth inning. Her final line was eight hits, seven runs, six of them earned in 3 2/3 innings. Vincent, Houston and Maddi Wills each recorded a hit for the Loggers (5-9).
