Winter sports wrap up for south Lincoln Co. teams
Winter sports wrapped up for varsity basketball teams in south Lincoln County last week.
The Troy Trojans, playing in their first divisional tournament since 2018, were 1-2 in Hamilton.
The Trojans opened Friday with a 66-54 loss to Arlee in the Western B tournament.
The Warriors led 30-18 at halftime Thursday.
Carson Orr’s 18 points were a game-high and Kempton Sloan scored 16 for the Trojans.
Nolan Morris and Emerson Downey each scored eight points while Brody Kelso tallied four.
Friday, the Trojans bounced back with a 61-50 win over Mission. The Bulldogs led 28-24 at halftime, but Troy’s big third quarter, 26-11, made the difference.
Sloan scored 19 points and Morris added 16. Downey tallied 14 and Orr pitched in 10 for the Trojans.
Saturday, Florence won 54-48. Sloan scored 14 points to lead the Trojans. Orr and Downey each had 11 while Morris scored nine and Brody Kelso had three points.
Northwest Class A
In Polson, the Pirates scored a 53-39 win over the Libby Loggers in a play-in game Feb. 27.
Polson led 24-20 at halftime and blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Loggers 16-5.
Ryan Beagle led Libby (3-16) with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Isaac Lamere pitched in 10 and Bransen Holzer scored eight.
For the Libby (1-18) girls basketball squad, they also lost their play-in game Feb. 27 at Browning, 67-21.
No other information was available.
Both varsity basketball teams ended their seasons with 15 straight losses.
