The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley and the Lincoln County Zero to Five Collaborative have announced a first-time partnership aimed at supporting early childhood development and family engagement through hands-on learning.

Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary of Kootenai Valley, hundreds of high-quality STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) kits will be made available to local families across Lincoln County. These kits, designed to spark curiosity and creativity in young children, will be distributed by Zero to Five at upcoming farmers markets in Libby, Troy and Eureka throughout the summer and fall months.

The STEAM kits include a variety of fun and educational activities tailored for young children and their caregivers. By bringing them to local farmers markets, the initiative makes access easy and inviting—meeting families where they are and encouraging learning through play.

The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley, known for its service-oriented mission, saw this collaboration as a natural fit.

“We are proud to support early childhood learning in our community,” said Tabitha Viergutz, Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley President. “Investing in young minds today builds a stronger, more resilient tomorrow for Lincoln County and this partnership exemplifies the kind of community-driven solutions that make a real difference in the lives of children and families."

Families attending farmers markets are encouraged to visit the Zero to Five booths to receive a free kit and learn more about available resources for young children and parents.
