A Troy man accused of starting two fires last fall in the downtown area was sentenced last week in Lincoln County District Court.

Clark Eugene Nelson, 76, who is free on $100,000 bail, pleaded guilty to one felony count of negligent arson on March 24. A second count was dropped as part of the plea deal.

May 5, District Judge Matt Cuffe sentenced Nelson to a 5-year suspended sentence. Nelson, who also used a walker to get around, received credit for serving seven days in the county jail.
