Local Rotary Club launching veterans recognition project
There were some beautiful ceremonies this past weekend honoring our fallen service members and on Nov. 11 we will recognize all our veterans.
But what about the other 363 days of the year?
I believe it was Winston Churchill, when speaking of the Royal Air Force pilots, who once said: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
The same can be said today regarding our returning veterans, yet so many struggle to return to civilian life and, tragically, far too many choose to end their lives. Montana, unfortunately, ranks far too high in this category.
The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley, in partnership with local veterans and the business communities in Libby and Troy, are working to keep our veterans top of mind by recognizing them visually in our towns.
We will be doing this in two ways: First, posters recognizing their service will soon be appearing in store windows, and second, special parking spaces will be designated for veterans.
We humbly ask our communities to show respect to our veterans by honoring these special parking spaces and also by thanking them for their service when you have that opportunity.
Let’s make Libby and Troy the most veteran friendly and honoring communities in Montana.
