County libraries, non-profit team up for backpack loaner program
Friends of Scotchman Peaks unveils Lend a Pack program
Ready to explore the outdoors without the hassle of gear shopping?
Starting Monday, June 2, residents can borrow trail-ready backpacks through the brand-new Lend a Pack Program—a collaboration between Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness, the Lincoln County Library and generous support from the LOR Foundation.
Backpacks will be available at all three Lincoln County Library branches—Libby, Troy, and Eureka—with a mix of adult and kid packs at each location.
• Adult Packs are equipped with essential hiking gear like bear spray, bear canisters, trekking poles, first aid kit and more.
• Kid Packs are filled with fun, hands-on tools such as a compass, magnifying glass, field guides, bug-catching gear and pint-sized trekking poles—designed to spark curiosity and confidence on the trail.
Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or trying your first day hike, the Lend a Pack Program is a free and easy way to get outdoors and explore our incredible wild places.
