Cabinet Peaks Medical Center (CPMC) is reaffirming its commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible health care to the residents of Libby and Lincoln County through the expansion of its cardiology services.

CPMC has long prioritized meeting the evolving health care needs of the community, particularly those of the area’s aging population, most recently bringing on Pain Management and a second General Surgeon to our community.

In fact, the CPMC Board of Directors identified cardiology services as a strategic goal during our strategic planning process in 2024. Cardiology continues to be one of the most critical service lines identified by patients and providers alike and CPMC has taken proactive steps to address gaps in care and expand access.

While limited cardiology services were previously available in the community, persistent challenges in timely access, patient coordination and local oversight led CPMC to explore improved solutions.

Efforts were made to engage in collaboration with Logan Health and their partner Billings Clinic, however, those partners chose not to move forward in a shared approach to improve and expand cardiology care in Lincoln County.

As a result, services formerly provided within CPMC were suddenly withdrawn, leaving a gap in local access to key diagnostics and cardiology support.

CPMC took immediate action to preserve continuity of care. The organization retained the trusted and experienced local cardiology team, including the Advanced Practice Provider (Nikki Haats), the Medical Assistant, and the ECHO Technician—ensuring patients could continue seeing familiar providers in a trusted environment.

“Measures were already underway to strengthen and expand cardiology services when Logan Health made the decision to withdraw cardiology from our facility and move to a mobile unit to provide services,” said Tadd Greenfield, CEO of CPMC. “Our goal has always been to provide consistent, high-quality cardiac care close to home and we remain committed to that goal by building a sustainable, patient-focused service model for our community.”

In addition to maintaining existing cardiology care, CPMC is expanding services to include interventional cardiology and treatment for peripheral arterial disease (PAD)—important advancements that reflect the needs of Lincoln County’s population.

By continuing to offer services within the hospital campus, CPMC supports a more integrated and stable care environment. This model allows for better coordination among departments, reduces fragmentation and enhances the overall patient experience.

Key benefits to the community include:

- Care delivered by experienced providers who are part of the local community

- Improved continuity and reduced disruption in patient care

- Expanded services addressing previously unmet cardiovascular needs

- Integrated, hospital-based support for better outcomes and coordination

“As a locally governed, nonprofit hospital, CPMC is committed to reinvesting every dollar back into our staff, services, technology and infrastructure,” Greenfield said. “This approach ensures we’re building a sustainable model for community-based care right here in Lincoln County. While regional systems like Logan Health and Billings Clinic serve broader areas like Kalispell, the Flathead and Eastern Montana, our focus remains solely on Libby and the surrounding communities we call home.”

Looking ahead, CPMC is actively exploring opportunities to expand specialty services and remains committed to transparent leadership, community engagement and high-quality care delivery for all residents of Lincoln County.
