Do you qualify for WIC?    WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.  This public health program is designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors in a targeted, at-risk population. Nutrition is the cornerstone of the WIC program.     WIC provides generous amounts of good food and a whole lot more! WIC provides nutrition and health education, breastfeeding support, healthy food and referrals to other services free of charge to Montana families who qualify. This includes low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be a nutritional risk.     Persons applying for WIC benefits must meet the following eligibility requirements:   Pregnant women  Breastfeeding women  Postpartum women  Infants up to age one  Children up to age 5  The household must reside in Montana  The household income is at or below current WIC income guidelines OR   Household meets adjunctive income eligibility definition (automatically qualify)  Medicaid  SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program)  TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families)  1 month of check stubs is required for proof of income.    This program does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, and reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.    Persons wishing to apply for WIC need to contact Northwest Community Health Center to set up an appointment.  WIC services are available Monday – Friday in Libby, alternating Wednesdays in Eureka and alternating Mondays in Troy.      People interested in more information about WIC can go to the Montana WIC Program website at http://wic.mt.gov.     For more information or to make an appointment, please call Northwest Community Health Center at 406-283-6900.    PUBLISHED IN The Western News July 22, 2025.
