David Albert Reid

| July 18, 2025 7:00 AM

David Albert Reid, a man whose life was a joyful song to God, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Dave was born in Eugene, Oregon on January 15, 1949 to Luther Reid and Alice Ames.

Dave moved to Montana 31 years ago, finding peace in its wide-open spaces and a home rooted in faith. Dave’s faith was as steady as the mountains he lived in.

Each day, he read his worn Bible, guided by Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” He prayed with family, friends, and neighbors. Dave’s gift for music was a beautiful offering to the Lord, writing and playing beautiful songs in church and at home.

A Vietnam War Army veteran, Dave served with courage, defending our freedom. In 1972, a year after returning, he met Charlotte, his soulmate and wife of 52 years. They quickly built a family, their home filled with laughter, prayer, and love —a testament to their devotion.

Dave was preceded in death by his three grandsons, Cedric, Jeremiah and Brett, as well as many cherished family members and loved ones. He is survived by his wife and children: Thomas, Raymond, Tawnya (John), James, Jesse (Kathleen), Renee (Chad), Jennifer (Corey), Steven (Heather), and Stacy (David), as well as 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

As an avid outdoorsman, Dave shared his love for Montana’s forests and rivers with his children, teaching them to see God’s handiwork while fishing, hiking, or hunting.

Dave’s life echoed 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

From Vietnam’s battlefields to Montana’s quiet trails, he lived with courage and faith, always pointing to Jesus.

Dave’s message, shared with all, was simple yet profound: Jesus loves you.

A memorial service will be held at Troy Community Baptist Church, of Troy, Montana 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025. The viewing will be held at 10 a.m. directly before the funeral.
