Richard “Mick” Vinson
Richard “Mick” Vinson passed away on Oct. 27, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 67.
For years, Mick fought a fierce and unrelenting battle against blood cancer — MDS. His strength and fortitude were unmatched. He was born-again with a devotion to the Lord. A man of deep faith, Mick cherished every single day he was blessed with.
Mick was born in Libby, Montana, to Richard “Dick” Vinson and Kay Louise Miller on June 13, 1957. He graduated from Libby High School in 1975, carrying with him the values of hard work and resilience that would define his life.
Mick married Brenda Lee Neubauer on Nov. 20, 1987. The two had shared their first dance to Crimson and Clover as kids — an early spark that fate transformed into years of love, laughter and partnership. Together, they raised one daughter, Brittany Lee Vinson, who was the pride of Mick’s life.
From one role to the next, Mick’s work ethic and dedication never wavered. He was truly a jack of all trades — logger, contractor, painter, operator, realtor, bartender and ultimately, a boss. Work ethic wasn’t just something he had — it was encrusted in his bones.
In 1994, Mick and Brenda purchased the Meadowlark RV Park. They spent a lot of Brittany’s early childhood there. In 2001, Mick and Brenda bought the MK Steak House, which they ran for 10 joyful years. Those walls held endless memories, laughter and community.
Around the same time, Mick began working for Environmental Restoration in 2002, where many of his colleagues became lasting friends who turned into family. Next, Mick and Brenda purchased the Country Inn and then back to the Meadowlark RV Park which had been renamed the Two Bit RV Park.
Yet, for all his accomplishments, nothing brought Mick more joy than being “Papa” to his granddaughter, Frankie Lee Powell. She was the light of his life. Their jokes together were precious.
Mick was giving, kind-hearted and incredibly smart. But what stood out most was his humor—genuine, effortless and unforgettable. A laugh with Mick was truly a time to be treasured. His quick wit left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Mick’s legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the friendships he built and the impact he made on everyone around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Mick’s life will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Riverfront Park in Libby, Montana—with music, stories and the kind of laughter he inspired in all of us. Bring a seat and share the evening with us.
