Legion Loggers dump Eureka, 11-1

Elijah Foulke drove in three runs as the Libby Loggers grabbed an 11-1 victory over the Kootenai Valley Rangers Wednesday, July 2.

Foulke singled in the first to cap off a three-run inning for the Loggers, who collected 14 hits in the game.

Bransen Holzer and Noah Gillespie each drove in a pair of runs for Libby.

Max Barone picked up the lone RBI for the Rangers, who scattered eight hits.

Aidan Rose threw seven innings on the mound for Libby, allowing six hits and one run. He struck out six batters.

Rowan Lytle pitched 3 2-3 innings for Kootenai Valley (5-2), allowing three runs on five hits. He fanned five.

The Loggers are in the midst of a extended road trip. This evening, they play a doubleheader at the Kalispell Lakers. This weekend, they are at Helena July 11, Gallatin Valley July 12 and Butte July 13.

Libby’s next home games are Wednesday, July 16, as the Loggers host the Bitterroot Red Sox at the Lumberyard. The first game begins at 4 p.m.

Kalispell 5, Libby 2

With the game tied 2-2 heading into the fifth inning, the Kalispell A Lakers plated two runs and added another in sixth for a late game rally to down the Libby Loggers in American Legion baseball Thursday night. 

Mason Lewis took the hill for the Lakers (24-20), pitching a complete game allowing six hits, two earned runs and striking out three. Bransen Holzer started opposite Lewis for the Loggers (13-22) but earned a no decision after pitching four innings, with two earned runs and five strikeouts, leaving the game tied at two. 

Tanner Wolfe took over in the fifth inning for the Loggers and took the loss, despite the Loggers outhitting the Lakers 6-4.  Beau Shultz led off the fifth with a double, Liam Rech followed with another double and an error scored a run to give the Lakers a 4-2 lead before Wolfe retired the next three batters. 

Holzer singled in the sixth inning for his second hit of the day, Boe Miles singled and Holzer came around to score on an error in the outfield. The Lakers loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, and Shultz hit a sacrifice fly for the final run of the game.
