Frenchtown sweeps Libby in high school hoops

Playing their first games in three weeks, the results for the Libby girls and boys basketball teams were not good.
Hosting two hot-shooting squads from Frenchtown resulted in a pair of lop-sided losses.
In the girls contest, the Broncs led 15-1 after one quarter and 45-1 at the half on the way to a 57-8 win as the game clock ran continuously due to the mercy rule.
The only point the Lady Loggers (1-4) put on the scoreboard in the first half was a free throw by Rylee Delmas.
Sophomore Hadleigh Wood’s basket with five seconds left in the third quarter was one of two shots they made from the field. Wood also scored the other with 1:34 left on a putback.
Wood led Libby with five points and Delmas scored three points.
Frenchtown hit six 3-pointers and was led by Mason Quinn’s 18 points. Heather Haskins hit three 3-pointers and scored 11.
In the boys game, the Loggers (3-2) were more competitive in the first quarter, but ended up losing 69-32.
The Broncs made 11 3-pointers in the game and were perfect from the free throw line, hitting all eight of their attempts. They led 9-1 before the Loggers closed to within four points, 14-10, at the end of the first quarter.
Frenchtown led 31-18 at the half and blew the game open in the third to take a 53-27 lead. Cole Pfahler led the Broncs with 14 points while Cooper Michaud and Brayden Ricci each had 13.
Libby junior Tristan Andersen scored 11 points to lead the Loggers while Aidan Rose added nine, Alderic Martineau scored five and Ryan Beagle scored four.
Both teams return to action tonight against Bigfork. The boys host while the girls are on the road. The varsity games are scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
