Owen Tracy Dickerson

Owen Tracy Dickerson, 90, passed away on Feb. 15, 2025. 

He was born on Jan. 5, 1935, in White Salmon, Washington, to Charles and Hazel Dickerson. Owen graduated from High School in Plains, Montana, but lived in Paradise, Montana. 

After graduating he moved to Troy, Montana. He joined the Navy and served four years. Owen then went to Butte, Montana to college for two years. He married Kay E. Savage and they were married until she passed on July 17, 2010.

For 18 years Owen worked for St. Regis in Libby as a machinist and welder. Then went to work for Shell Oil Company as a machinist in Anacortes, Washington. Owen came back to Montana and was machinist for local people (friends) up to his death. He had several honors for his machinist skills. 

Jobs came from east of the Mississippi where people would request only Owen to machine parts. He built a 37-foot steel sailboat in his back yard. Owen and Kay sailed to Alaska and other places on the boat. Owen and Kay lived on his boat while working at the Shell Oil Company .

Owen was involved with several gun shooting clubs, enjoyed traveling and cross country skied in Norway. He bought his first Harley Davidson to go to his 60th class reunion in Plains/Paradise, Montana. Owen was still riding his Harley until he passed, which now has 88,612 miles on it.

Owen’s wife passed away in 2010, his mother passed away at the age of 106 in 2013, Owen left behind his beloved cat “Oren” who has a forever home with Owen's friend now.

Owen had a lot of good close cherished friends who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at the Troy Community Baptist Church in Troy, Montana. There will be a reception at the church following the service.
