Love, Boe's lunkers highlight Fisher River Ice Fishing Derby
Nearly 500 anglers competed in last weekend’s Fisher River Fire/Rescue Auxiliary Winter Fish Derby on the Thompson Lower Chain of Lakes.
One of the big fundraisers for the Auxiliary saw several anglers bring home several beautiful rainbow trout and some good-sized northern pike.
Starting with the pike, John Love’s 15-pound, 1.7-ounce fish won the adult division. The northern measured 35 1/2 inches.
Rachel Rebo’s 10-pound, 9.2-ounce pike edged Brian Wilkins’ 10-pound, 8.5-ounce fish for second place. Wilkins’ fish was 32 inches, just a bit longer than Rebo’s, which measured 31 3/8 inches.
In the children’s division, Adonis Silvestri was the winner with a 3-pound, 2.4-ounce pike that measured 23 inches. Waylon Green’s 2-pound, 10.1-ounce pike, measuring 23 1/8 inches, was second.
In the perch division, the spread between first and third was just two-tenths of an ounce. Tim Carvey’s 1-pound, .3-ounce fish that measured 12 1/4 inches was the winner in the adult division.
Floyd Carvey’s top fish weighed 1-pound, .2-ounce perch was 13 1/8 inches. Steve Schenck was third with a 1-pound, .1-ounce fish that measured 12 1/8 inches.
In the children’s division, Gary Hoss took top honors with a 12.5-ounce perch that measured 11 3/4 inches. Carlos Villasenor was second with a 10-ounce fish that measured 11 1/4 inches. Reid Schlegel’s third-place fish weighed 9.7 ounces and was 10 1/2 inches long.
The rainbow trout division saw some impressive fish come through the ice.
Barrett Moe’s 9-pound, .4 ounce lunker measured 26 3/8 inches and was the winner. Rusty Burns turned in a 9-pound ‘bow that was 26 1/2 inches long and was second. The third-place trout, caught by Bridger Moe, was a 6-pound, 12.3-ounce fish that measured 25 1/4 inches.
In the children’s division, Colton Burns’ winner weighed 8 pounds, 9.5 ounces and measured 27 1/2 inches. Declan Burns’ second-place rainbow weighed 1 pound, 6.7 ounces and measured 16 1/8 ounces. Rowen Franke was third with a 1-pound, 2.9-ounce fish that measured 15 1/2 inches.
In the Kokanee salmon division, Brian Anderson won the adult class with the only fish of more than one pound. The 15-incher weighed 1-pound, 1.7 ounces.
Michael Crisp was second with a 15.7-ounce Kokanee that was 14 7/8 inches. Cory Anderson’s third-place fish weighed 15.4 ounces and was 14 1/2 inches.
In the children’s division, Lane Ruhter’s 13-ounce, 13 1/2 inch salmon was the winner. Hadley Cooper was second with a 12.7-ounce, 13 1/2-inch fish. Emmett Dopps was third with a 12.1-ounce salmon that measured 13 1/2 inches.
