Leland “Pete” Edward Hoeltzel
Leland “Pete” Edward Hoeltzel went to be with the Lord, Feb. 13, 2025.
He was born Aug. 26, 1940, in Leavenworth, Kansas. Pete grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas and in Enid, Oklahoma. He was a proud veteran. Pete served in the Army from 1958 to 1961 until he was honorably discharged. He married Barb Person in 1962.
Pete had different jobs in his life, but his favorites were cross-country truck driving with Barb and Montana Highway Department supervisor at the Crystal Creek District. He was a fire chief at the Fisher River Volunteer Fire Department and was active in the American Legion.
Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and loved living in Montana. We will miss Pete, his smile and his stories.
He is survived by his wife Barb; his son Tim Marguardt in Wisconsin; grandson Aiden Marguardt in Wisconsin; brother Bill (Linda) Hoeltzel in Kansas; nieces and nephews: Karen (Joe) Warner, Christina, Cielke and Harvey (Tierra) Person all in Libby, Montana. Pete also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Kanas and Oklahoma.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and one brother; brother-in-law Johnny Person; stepson Craig Harris and nephew Stanley Person.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at the Church of Nazarene, 186 Horseshoe Drive, Libby, Montana, and a reception to follow the service at the church.
