Troy man dies in car-train collision
A 90-year-old man died Saturday after his car was struck by a train just outside of Troy.
According to the report by Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Horton, the man, a Troy resident, was traveling north in a Ford Taurus at about 11:37 a.m. on Hunts Mill Road as a train approached from the east.
The car stopped on the tracks, then attempted to back up. It was struck by the westbound train.
The man was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center where he died of his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
According to the incident report, the road was snow-packed. Alcohol, drugs nor speed were suspected in the accident.
No other injuries were reported.
