Walter "Wally" J. Hume Jr.
Walter "Wally" J. Hume Jr., 73, of Libby, Montana, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born to Walt and Sylvia Hume on Jan. 30, 1951, in Whitefish, he moved to Troy in 1966 where he attended school before joining the United States Army in 1968 as an Airborne Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment Papa Company where he served two tours in Vietnam and joined the Special Forces in 1983.
Wally married Valli Taylor on March 24, 1970. The had two children, Toni Hume and Walter "Buck" J. Hume Ill.
In addition to his military career, Wally worked as a sawyer, on oil rigs, at the Libby Dam, and at WR Grace. Most importantly, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, friend and the bestpapa. Everyone who knew Wally loved him, the warmth of his smile and the sparkling of his eyes.
He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his animals, but what made his eyes sparkle the most was being a Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Valli Hume (Libby, Montana), and their children, Toni Hume-Warren (Kalispell, Montana) and Walter "Buck" J. (and Nicki) Hume III (Billings, Montana); his sister Donna Boyd (Libby, Montana); grandchildren, Taylor Warren (Kalispell, Montana), Katlin Warren (Kalispell, Montana), MacKenzie (and Brent) Ellsworth (Kalispell, Montana), Presley (and Derek) Anderson (Billings, Montana), and Payton Hume (Great Falls, Montana); great-grandchildren, Julianne, Granger, E.J., Bennett, Gracelynn, Hayden, Cooper, and Teagan; and his fur babies, Jazzie, Happy and Pickles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter "Walt" and Sylvia Hume; and siblings, Sue Moore, Russ Hume, Judy Varnell and Ronnie Hume.
