Montana landed 79 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big Sky Conference teams for fall sports, the league office announced this week. Montana's was the third-highest total in the Big Sky.

Forty Grizzlies, including Libby's Cy Stevenson, from the football team were honored, 18 from the soccer team, 10 from the volleyball team and 11 from the cross country teams, with eight women and three men recognized.

Stevenson starred on the gridiron for the Loggers and is a redshirt freshman for the Griz.

The Bobby Hauck-coached football team's 40 selections were the most for that sport in the Big Sky and the third-most in program history.

Coach Chris Citowicki's soccer team tied for the third-most selections in that sport, while coach Allison Lawrence's volleyball team matched the program record with 10 selections.

Eight of Montana's 79 selections hold a 4.0 cumulative GPA.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Sky honors, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least half of their team's competitions during the fall.

"A lot of things are changing in college sports, but one thing that remains constant is the opportunity to gain lifelong knowledge," said Big Sky Commissioner Tom Wistrcill.

"Seeing so many student-athletes hit this benchmark proves this is still one of our top priorities."
