Major changes coming to over-the-air TV in Libby
There are major changes coming to those who watch over-the-air TV in Libby.
Libby Video Club Secretary Terry Peck made the announcement in a recent press release that Missoula KTMF 23 channels will be removed and other news from Libby Video Club.
"If you watch TV over the air in Libby, you get it from the Libby Video Club (LVC). You have probably noticed the Missoula KTMF channels (23.1 ABC, 23.2 FOX, & 23.3 SWX) have been tiling and pixilating for a long time (we’ve had this problem since 2022) and we have not liked broadcasting such inadequate channels to you," Peck said in the press release. "We have not been able to correct this problem due to the Designated Market Area (DMA). We (Libby) are not in the Montana DMA because we are in the Spokane DMA and KMTF (Missoula DMA) doesn’t want to jeopardize any affiliation with ABC and FOX in order to send us their feed."
Therefore, this weekend (Aug. 30-31) the three KTMF channels (23.1, 23.2 and 23.3) will be removed.
Peck said the feed from Spokane (our DMA) for ABC on 4.1 (Spokane KXLY) and FOX on 28.1 (Spokane KAYU), but SWX (Missoula KTMF) will be gone. However, local Montana sports, including college sports on 8.2 (KPAX MTN) & 8.1 (KPAX CBS), can still be seen.
"We are working to replace the ‘23’ channels with KREM, KSKM and getting the Create channel back," Peck said. "With all these changes taking place, please remember to re-scan your TV."
Peck also explained how to join the Libby Video Club group email.
"We have a LVC Group email which we use when there is LVC news to share. It doesn't happen very often, but the ‘group’ gets the information before it is put on our website or in the newspapers," she said. "We do not share or give your personal information out to anyone. If you would like to be included in this group, please send an email to libbyvideclub@outlook.com and let us know.
The club is a non-profit and relies solely on local donations.
"We are often asked, 'How much should I donate?'"
