Politico says federal district judge Jia Cobb has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting immigrants who were granted parole, at their port of entry, for fleeing violence and oppression. The move blocks the deportation of “hundreds of thousands of immigrants” who faced ramped-up deportation proceedings, with scant chance to challenge deportations.
She wrote in her filing that “the freedom to live fearlessly, the opportunity of liberty, and the American dream. That is all Plaintiffs seek. Instead they are told to atone for their race, leave because of their names, and purify their blood. The Court disagrees.” Homeland Security said the ruling “is lawless and won’t stand.”
