First responders from six agencies were on the scene of a structure fire Wednesday afternoon south of Libby.

The call came in after 3 p.m. at a residence on Cherry Creek Drive. The structure was a carport that held at one least vehicle, a white pickup truck.

Libby Volunteer Fire Department crews got the blaze under control in quick fashion before it spread to the main residence. The roof on the carport collapsed, causing other damage.

They had three engines, two water tenders and the command center on the scene.

Kootenai National Forest crews were also on the scene to help prevent the spread of the fire into a heavily wooded area behind the property where other homes are located.

Personnel from Libby Volunteer Ambulance, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol and Flathead Electric were also on the scene.

According to LVFD Chief Steve Lauer, his department had ? Members on the scene. The cause of the fire is not currently known and under investigation.

It’s the second structure fire Libby volunteers have responded to in less than a week. They fought one on Friday, April 18, at a residence on Kootenai River Road.
