One man's arrogance
Members of the Trump cabinet recently endangered our country with Signal Gate. A brief review of history reveals a pattern.
Recently, Trump has damaged our economy with unnecessary tariffs and hurt relations with our closest allies. This is reminiscent of President Hoover’s policies in 1929. He was unaware of the potential effects that crashed American and world economies. Trump's tariff policy has shaken our economy and resulted in foreign countries reciprocating. All from one man's arrogance.
Donald Trump attempted a coup d’état to overthrow our democracy on January 6, 2021. Despite overwhelming evidence, Republicans refused to convict Trump at his impeachment hearing. This began America’s downward spiral.
In 2024, Trump became America’s first convicted felon and accused rapist elected President. Trump first attempted a coup to overturn an election, organized fake electors, convinced thousands to “stop the steal,” then tried to assassinate his Vice President and Speaker of the House for not supporting him. His mob pissed on the carpets in the halls of Congress, damaged priceless paintings, assaulted 100 federal police officers, murdering three. And then pardoned them.
30,000 documented lies, including misinformation about COVID-19, repeated on Fox News, originated with Trump. His malfeasance cost the lives of tens of thousands of Americans. Some are from our community. He took highly classified documents when he left the White House, then left them publicly at Mar-a-Lago near an industrial-sized copy machine. Then, he invited known spies to visit him there.
Trump’s Muslim ban wasn’t just racist; it destroyed lives, separated families, and alienated allies while he pandered to white supremacists. He is currently repeating this tactic, with unmarked, often masked ICE agents, rounding up brown-skinned people—without due process—immorally sending them to notorious prisons in El Salvador. Many of these people are innocent.
Trump has consistently favored Vladimir Putin. He tried to blackmail our ally Ukrainian President Zelensky to get dirt on Joe Biden. Then, when Zelensky refused, Trump later abandoned Ukraine as payback. When Ukrainians desperately need our help to defend against the devastation of a Russian invasion, Trump says no more help.
Trump then behaved dreadfully when Zelensky came to America to agree to Trump’s terms for a peace treaty. He embarrassed himself and Americans. He has since started a tariff war affecting every country except Putin’s Russia.
Recently, Trump has unleashed a wealthy, unelected immigrant to wreak havoc on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid with plans to privatize or eliminate these social safety nets. Americans have paid into these all their lives and depend on them.
Trump has permitted unelected Elon Musk and DOGE, without Congressional approval, to access Americans’ personal information, without congressional approval. All unconstitutional. Republicans could have stopped all this. They chose not to.
Americans won’t forget.
