Mrs. Thoeny’s sixth period Advanced English class fundraised and organized a trip to Spokane, Washington, to watch the Broadway musical, "Hamilton."

Their first fundraising attempt was selling cookie dough. With the support from family, friends and the community, students and Mrs. Thoeny personally delivered the cookie dough during sixth period and after school.

Despite selling cookie dough, they still needed more funds to meet their fundraising goal. The class reached out to the VFW and arranged a bingo night. The event was a success with the funds raised through bingo, 50/50 tickets and a homemade dinner.

Students prepared and served chicken Alfredo, Caesar salad, garlic bread, cupcakes and more. Thanks to the generosity of the community, the class raised enough money to make their trip possible.

The trip

The class raised enough money, not only for tickets to the show, but also to enjoy dinner at Olive Garden before the performance.

After dinner, the students had about 45 minutes to explore the nearby mall before heading to the theater. The performance of Hamilton could be considered the highlight of the trip, as it was captivating and entirely entertaining.

The students were immersed in the music, storytelling and energy of the show, making the entire experience well worth their fundraising efforts.
