A three-run third inning wasn’t enough for the Libby Lady Loggers to overcome Polson’s consistent offensive attack, as they dropped a 10-3 decision Thursday in Northwest A Conference softball action.

With the loss, Libby falls to 2-3 on the season.

Polson opened the game strong with three runs in the first and added two more in the second to build a 5-0 lead. Libby responded in the bottom of the third, plating all three of their runs to cut the deficit to two.

However, the Lady Pirates kept the pressure on, scoring in three separate remaining innings and finishing with 12 hits overall.

Libby managed six hits in the game, three of which came off the bat of Madison Vincent, who went 3-for-4 with a double. Maddi Willis also doubled and added a hit while Rachel Kosters drove in two runs during Libby’s lone scoring inning. Rossi Baney contributed the sixth hit for the Loggers.

In the circle, Carmen Kohler went 6 1/3 innings for Libby, allowing 11 hits and nine runs, eight of them earned. She struck out six and walked five. Willis came on in relief for the final two outs, allowing one run on one hit.

Defensively, both teams committed two errors.
