Libby's event calendar filling up following council approvals
Libby residents attending Monday’s city council meeting probably needed a calendar to keep track of all the events that were approved or discussed.
The first is the Workforce Expo on Lincoln Boulevard and the Memorial Center. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23. Lincoln Boulevard will be closed on the Memorial Center side.
Several Northwest Montana industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, auto body and others, will be on hand to share what they do and help job seekers engage in hands-on career exploration activities as well as discuss training paths for employment.
On Friday, April 25, the city and county forester Jennifer Nelson will lead an Arbor Day event, featuring tree planting.
Also, the Loggertown Baseball Club is hosting a youth baseball tournament June 14-15 at the Remp Fields.
Kelly Morford said 16 teams have signed up, including from the Flathead Valley, Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls and Calgary.
The following weekend, the LOR Foundation is hosting its three-year anniversary event Saturday, June 21, at Riverfront Park in Libby. There will be games for kids and food as the organization celebrates $1.7 million in giving since 2022.
Sunday, June 22, Mineral Avenue will be closed between Sixth and Third streets from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Libby Area Business Association’s Summer Solstice event. The association also sought and received an OK for a street closure on Mineral Avenue from Timberline Auto to the Cabinet Mountain Brewing Company from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, for Halloween festivities.
Lincoln County’s Libby Parks District is hosting a bicycle fun ride, the “Circle Swede Gravel Ride,” Saturday, Sept. 13. Riders will have two options, a 35-mile loop and a 62-mile loop.
According to organizer Erin Taylor, the ride is intended to be a fun event, increase the visibility of outdoor recreation opportunities in Libby, help fund current and future needs of the Libby Parks District and help support a local charity.
The ride will begin and end at J. Neils Memorial Park while incorporating the old haul bridge.

Car show and cruise registration is from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. The cruise runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. At 9 p.m., Neon Lights and Flame Throwers will perform in front of First Montana Bank.
Saturday, car show registration runs from 8 a.m. to noon with the show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mineral Avenue. Costume contests for ‘50s Pin-Up Girl, RockaBilly Dude and RockaBetty Girl are at 1 p.m.
The awards ceremony and pedal car drawing is at 3 p.m. followed by the Ron Remp Memorial Burnout Contest at 5 p.m. at the Millpond Motocross Park.
