A 38-year-old Troy man, Brandon Burdett, is facing multiple drug charges after he called law enforcement.

According to court documents, Burdett called county dispatch several times about voices and paranoia. He also contacted family and the FBI about getting set up by local law enforcement.

The subsequent police response discovered that he allegedly possessed drugs and had recently used them. Then, while getting booked into the Lincoln County Detention Center, he allegedly had drugs on him.

According to court documents, on March 21, Burdett made multiple calls to dispatch, saying that he was hearing voices and people were trying to kill him. The Troy Police Department responded to Burdett and asked if he had been taking his medication.

He said he had, and when authorities asked when Burdett had last used meth, he allegedly said he had smoked a both the previous morning. He asked the police officer to do extra patrols around the area.

Police then contacted Burdett’s parole and probation officer, who informed them that Burdett had been sending messages to family and calling the FBI, saying that local law enforcement was trying to set him up. The parole officer then went out to check on Burdett with a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy and a police officer.

He was detained, and in a search of his residence, they found a small black shaving bag that contained a kit possibly used to hold and store drugs, along with drug paraphernalia, which officers said in court documents they felt had residue inside used for smoking. There was also a clear white baggy with white residue as well as a small crystal-like substance, officers believed to be meth.

Burdett faces charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The next day, while getting checked into the county jail, authorities reported in court documents they had located a suboxone pill in Burdett’s wallet. Burdett did not have a prescription for suboxone, which is a schedule three controlled substance.

That resulted in another drug possession charge.
