Trojans still searching for first win after tough opening week

Troy endured a rough start to the 2025 season, dropping its first two games at home against Whitefish and Bigfork in 3-inning matchups.

The Trojans opened their season Thursday, April 3, against a powerful Whitefish squad that put up 16 runs in just three innings. Troy was held hitless in the 16-0 loss. Whitefish used an aggressive offensive attack, plating five runs in the first inning, four in the second and seven in the third to enforce the mercy rule.

Tommy Guinard started on the mound for Troy and gave up nine earned runs over two innings. He was relieved by Carson Orr and Tommy Martin, who combined for the final inning of play.

On Saturday, April 5, the Trojans faced Bigfork in another lopsided contest, falling 18-0 in three innings. The Vikings erupted for 15 runs in the second inning, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to break the game wide open.

Despite the score, Troy showed signs of life at the plate, tallying three hits. Trapper Savage led the way with a double, while Preston Norder and Guinard each chipped in with a single. However, the Trojans struggled to string together consistent offense and couldn’t find a way to slow Bigfork’s bats.

Lucas Peterson started on the mound and was charged with 12 earned runs in less than two innings. Ryker Pinard followed in relief, giving up six more runs.
