Lady Trojans Dominate Season Opener with 13-2 Win Over MAC

The Troy Lady Trojans made a bold statement in their season and home opener Tuesday, April 1, by dispatching state power Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC) 13-2 in a five-inning mercy-rule victory.

Troy's complete team effort was evident in the opening innings of the Western B/C league contest, as it wasted no time asserting its dominance.

The Trojans jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and piled on five more in the third, establishing an early 9-0 cushion that MAC never recovered from. Troy tacked on four more runs in the fourth to end the game early via the 10-run rule.

Slugger Kylie Cole led the offensive charge, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, triple and three RBIs. Tana Grant also had a flawless day at the dish, going 2-for-2 with a double.

Troy showed plenty of pop throughout the lineup. Halle Wallace and Leslie Gravier each blasted home runs, while Autumn Fisher and Wallace recorded hits and RBIs.

It’s undoubtedly a great way to start the season, and while there is plenty of softball to be played, it does cause the western Montana softball scene to take notice.

Borgmann added another RBI without a hit, contributing to the team's ability to produce runs in various ways.

In the circle, it was all Halle Wallace. The Lady Trojan pitcher tossed a five-inning complete game, allowing just four hits and two runs — only one of which was earned. This is against a MAC team that is known for scoring runs, and a lot of them.

Troy’s defense was solid behind her, committing just one error, while MAC struggled defensively with three miscues.

After Troy plated another four runs in the fourth, the visiting Bulldogs managed two runs in the top of the fifth, but it was far too little, and the 10-run rule was enacted.

Last year, Troy lost to the MAC twice—a 10-4 setback on April 5, 2024, and a 5-1 loss on May 4, 2024.
