The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley is excited to announce the donation of $5,000 in Lego Robotics kits to Libby Elementary School.

This contribution was made possible through a $2,500 Rotary District Grant, matched by a $2,500 donation from the local Rotary Club.

The kits will be used by Mrs. Spencer, the school's Technology Teacher, to enhance student learning through hands-on projects.

"I plan to have my fifth graders do a project with them in two weeks, giving me enough time to try it myself first," Spencer said. "What’s so neat about these kits is the app that goes with them allows teachers to assign a project and students can work at their own pace. The app even helps differentiate for different ability levels."

Rotary’s mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace. Rotary's areas of focus include promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education and protecting the environment.

The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley meets on Mondays at noon at the Venture Inn and all are welcome to attend.

Upcoming events include a highway cleanup later this month, Trunk-or-Treat from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Libby Schools Administration building parking lot, and the annual wine-tasting fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Memorial Center.
