An autumn wings birding class will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 in Libby.

The goal is to find, study and identify resident and migrating birds in a variety of habitat situations.

Those interested in participating must register by calling 406-291-2154 or email b_baxter53@yahoo.com (bunderscorebaxter53@yahoo.com).

It will begin at 9 a.m. at Riverfront Park at the Fred Brown Log Pavilion for a brief discussion on basic birding techniques before heading to the field to explore some great spots to view raptors, waterfowl, woodpeckers, shorebirds and songbirds.

This class is open to all levels of birders and is sponsored by Libby Hostel Base Camp.

Participants should arrive prepared for a field day with proper clothing and footwear, full gas tanks, water, lunch, bird books, binoculars, spotting scopes and a good sense of humor.

We will explore by vehicle stop and hop tours, viewing from good observational points and taking a couple of mild to mid-level walks on private property.

The class is for adults and no pets are allowed. Qualified instructors will lead the tour and it will be held rain or shine.
