The owner of a Butte construction company who pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges for defrauding a local business during the construction of the new Town Pump in Troy was sentenced recently.

Joseph Anthony Tobiness, 52, was accused of four counts of forgery exceeding $5,000. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on April 15 before agreeing to plead guilty to two counts of forgery July 15 in Lincoln County District Court. Two counts were dismissed.

Judge Matt Cuffe sentenced Tobiness to two six-year deferred sentences Aug. 27. The sentences will be served concurrently.
