Hard to believe, but true – Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner!

For well over 20 years that means The Heritage Museum will start things rolling with the Holiday Bazaar!

Shoppers can get an early start on their Christmas shopping or perhaps some lovely décor for the Thanksgiving table. An array of handcrafted items will be featured throughout the museum the first Friday and Saturday in November.

For each purchase from a vendor inside the museum, participants will earn a chance to win the Customer Appreciation drawing.

The bazaar runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

Shoppers will find woodcrafts, needlecrafts, soaps, lotions, jewelry, Christmas decor, baked goods, locally authored books and more. In addition to the handcrafted items, the Museum’s table will offer merchandise and gift certificates that have been generously donated for this fundraiser by local merchants and friends of the museum. 100% of the money earned at this table goes directly to the museum.

The Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild will have a beautiful display of their seasonal quilts in the Tower Gallery. Feast your eyes on this charming display!

A silent auction will be held during the Bazaar, ending at 4 p.m. Saturday. Prizes include: a float trip on the Kootenai; a two-night stay at the Heron’s Roost cabin; a wine flask and $50 gift certificate to High Spirits Wine & Liquor; a quilt; a framed panoramic historic photo of Libby and more!

On Friday evening, RaeAnne Canavan will be serving hot soups with a roll in the cookhouse located at the end of the parking lot. Come and warm up before you shop or relax and enjoy your soup after.

Saturday she’ll be set up in the parking lot serving delicious burgers and hot dogs from her catering trailer. You can take it to go or enjoy it in the cookhouse with fellow shoppers.

Don't forget to save room for dessert! There will be a selection of homemade pies being sold by the slice both Friday and Saturday in the cookhouse. Proceeds from this pie sale go to The Heritage Museum, so please enjoy a piece of pie before or after your shopping experience!

The Holiday Bazaar is a major fundraiser for the Museum. The Museum depends on it to cover the yearly insurance premium and winter heating bills. A portion of the profit will come from the Holiday raffle.

The first prize is $500 cash donated by Edward Jones Investments; second prize is two $100 gift cards donated by Libby Empire Foods, third prize is Brunch for Two donated by The Venture Inn & Restaurant; fourth prize is a basketful of handcrafted/homemade goods donated by various Holiday Bazaar vendors.

Tickets will be available at the Holiday Bazaar, Winter Expo (Dec. 13-14 at the Museum) and Alphapets, 34294 U.S. Highway 2. The drawing will take place during the Winter Expo at the Museum, 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. You need not be present to win.
