Backing Wilson for state Supreme Court
Dear Editor:
As judges of Montana courts of limited jurisdiction, we are proud to endorse Judge Dan Wilson for the Montana Supreme Court.
His experiences as a dedicated attorney, Justice of the Peace and District Court Judge have given him a comprehensive understanding of our legal system from top to bottom, which he pairs with a commonsense approach that Montanans, from Libby to Billings, cherish.
Beyond that, Judge Wilson has been a friend and invaluable teacher to us. His willingness to share his knowledge and provide guidance to fellow judges has benefitted us and strengthened Montana’s judiciary.
Among other things, he taught us to “stay in our lane” as judges. He brought that same approach to District Court and will do the same at the Supreme Court, interpreting the law as written without overstepping his role or imposing a personal agenda.
We trust Judge Wilson to give a voice to the commonsense approach of the Courts of Limited Jurisdiction and steer the Supreme Court in the right direction.
We believe that his election will be a step forward for our legal system and we urge you to support his candidacy.
Sincerely,
Hon. Jay Sheffield, Lincoln County Justice of the Peace/Libby City Court Judge
