FVCC will host first aid workshop for pets Oct. 28

A free first aid workshop for dog owners will be held next week at the Flathead Valley Community College in Libby.

The two-hour workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in room 113.

Dog owners will learn how to release their canines from traps and snares.

Montana K9 Safety is hosting the event that will be presented by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Paul Antczak, one of the stars of the Mountain Man tv show.

Participants will learn trapping regulations, trap release techniques, hands-on skills and about a trap release tool kit.

Trapping season begins soon in Montana. In Northwest Montana, the season for beaver, mink, muskrat and otter begins Friday, Nov. 1. Bobcat, fisher and marten begins Dec. 1.

Wolf trapping season dates will be announced at a later date.
