The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley is pleased to announce the continuation of the beloved Koats for Kids program, formerly run by the Kootenai Kiwanis Club.

After the closure of the Kootenai Kiwanis Club last month, Rotary is honored to carry on the program and uphold the Kiwanis Club’s legacy of supporting children in the community.

Koats for Kids provides warm clothing, including coats, boots, socks and gloves, to area children at no cost to parents. All items are either new or gently used, with cleaning generously donated by Moody’s Dirty Laundry.

These giveaways ensure that children in the area stay warm throughout the cold winter months. This year, four Koats for Kids events will be held on the following Saturdays:

Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 21, and Jan. 18, 2025. All events occur from noon to 2 p.m. at the McGrade School gymnasium at 899 Farm to Market Rd, Libby.

“We are honored to take on this important program and continue the tradition started by the Kiwanis Club," Zach McNew, Rotary Club President, said. "Their work in supporting the youth of our community has been invaluable and we are committed to ensuring that no child goes without a warm coat this winter.”

To support Koats for Kids, donation bins will be placed at various businesses in Libby and Troy over the coming weeks. The Rotary Club is also seeking volunteers to assist at the giveaway events.

For more information or for those wanting to volunteer, contact the club at RotaryLibby@gmail.com.

The club meets on the first three Mondays of every month at Tiffany’s at 408 Mineral Ave in Libby.
