The Wild and Scenic Film Festival is coming to Libby, Montana for the first time, courtesy of the Kootenai Climate Group and sponsored by the LOR Foundation.

The festival will feature films that illustrate the earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet and the work communities and individuals are doing to protect their homes and special places.

The Kootenai Climate Group is presenting a two-hour program of nine films selected from the annual festival at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the RW Maki Theater. Admission is $10. An informal pre-event social will start at Cabinet Mountain Brewing at 5 p.m.

The film festival is organized by the South Yuba River Citizens League in Nevada City, California. Over 100 films by independent producers are shown at the annual flagship festival. The films then go on-tour around the nation at shows sponsored by local group

The Kootenai Climate Group is hosting the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in order to bring people together who are concerned about how humans can live more lightly on our planet.

The selected films highlight how people are wrestling with environmental challenges exacerbated by climate change. The films use narrative form, art and music to explore their subjects. The objectives of the film fest are to inform, inspire and motivate people to work together to build sustainable communities.
